A game about going somewhere multiple times and observing the place as it lives
Go to a place you regularly pass by: a square, a path, a commercial street, a store… Take some time there and on the first page of a notebook or on your phone, write briefly a description of that place. This is your baseline for what will come next.
Each time you come back to that place, try to find one thing that has changed since last time. There could be a new library, or a construction site, or a sign to announce big sales. A tree might have been cut or there might be wild blackberries in the bushes or the ground might be full of fallen leaves or the sales sign might be gone. Write about what you observed in your notebook or on your phone.
As days go on, you’re writing a living portrait of the place as if it were a breathing, ever-changing creature; and you’re slowly becoming a friend of that creature too.
Games are more fun when you get to make them your own, so don't hesitate to imagine weird variants and try them out to see how they make you feel. Here are just a handful of ideas that you can try or use as a starting point to develop your own.
